The quality of life at the University of Denver received three out of four stars by DU students who were interviewed in the Princeton Review’s annual rating of “The Best 345 Colleges.”

The book has 63 rankings in various categories with 20 schools ranked in each category. Most of the lists are based on student answers to one or more survey questions.

DU was rated in several categories in the review.

DU’s quality of life rating was an 83. Many of the students surveyed commented on the influence of Greek life on campus stating that it was a central component to campus life with varying descriptions.

According to the review, one DU student said, “‘Most people don’t think much and go to frat parties and get wasted for fun’ while another says pretty much the same thing in just three words: ‘Greek is awesome!'”

DU’s academics received a lower score of two stars out of a possible four with a n academic rating of 78. The report stated that the most popular majors are biology, business and communications.

However, the report said a complaint was that business continues outside of the classroom.

One student was quoted as saying that at times DU “is more of a business than a school.”

However, the report stated students do find DU to be a positive academic experience, quoting one student as saying that it is “a great academic experience, which also guarantees a great time.”

The report also listed highlights of the surveys saying that “theater is hot” at DU, “frats and sororities dominate (the) social scene,” “students love Denver,” “student publications are ignored” and “political activism is (almost) nonexistent.”

The publisher said that approximately 300 students per school were interviewed to determine which schools were included on the list.

Students were asked to evaluate such things as campus life, academics, life, student body and what was popular on campus.

Other Colorado schools rated include the United States Air Force Academy as the school where “their students never stop studying” and where “professors make themselves accessible.” The academy is also ranked among the schools for the “best overall academic experience for undergraduates,” “best administered school” and “toughest to get into.”

The University of Colorado at Boulder, on the other hand, was listed in the report as being the number one school where “their students (almost) never study” and as a school where teaching assistants teach too many upper division courses.

Colorado School of Mines was also included in the rankings as having the lowest-rated campus food.

The report also stated the “best party school” is Indiana University; the “best stone cold sober school” is Brigham Young University; the “best frat and sorority scene school” is Clemson University; and the “best jock school” is the University of Michigan.
