On Monday, Sept. 30, the University of Denver will host Timothy Ferris at Boettcher Auditorium. Ferris is the author of over thirteen astronomy books, such as “Coming of Age in the Milky Way,” and “Nightwatch:
A Practical Guide to Viewing the Universe.” He also wrote and narrated the PBS special “The Creation of the Universe.”
Ferris also produced the phonograph record carried onboard the Voyager spacecraft. When the Voyager spacecraft was launched in 1976, it carried aboard a phonograph record containing photographs,
various sounds of Earth and classical music. He has also written for many periodicals, including The New Yorker and The Nation.
At the event, he will be talking about his new book, “Seeing in the Dark.” He will also be speaking about the new popularity of amateur and professional astronomy.
The speech is scheduled to take place in Boettcher Auditorium at 4 p.m. A book signing is scheduled afterward at 5:15 in the Olin Rotunda. Drinks and refreshments will be provided. Information on Ferris’ life and accomplishments is available at http://www.annonline.com/index.html.
