We live in a strange world today. A world where debris from a space shuttle rain across our country, where we have to live in fear of our own neighbors, where often times it is unclear whether or not we are at war or even who the enemy is. Planes fall from the skies and trashcans in parks tick. Weapons of mass destruction are constructed and children commit crimes that at one time we only thought madmen were capable of. We live in a time of turmoil and unrest.

This is really nothing new. For centuries now people have lived in fear of something. Go to any point in history and there will be some kind of turmoil. World War I, World War II, Cold War, Vietnam these are just a few recent examples of the hardships our country has survived. We have seen wars in the past and we will most likely see wars in the future.

So what can we do? What hope is there for us? Simple; we all need something to believe in. No matter what it is I think we all need something outside of ourselves to believe in. Whether it be the teachings of Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, or simply in something beyond ourselves the important thing is that we have something to live for. Because when those hard times come it is good to be able to relay on something more than simply you.

So in this weird world in which we reside as of now try to expand your horizons. See what is out there waiting for you. There is so much more to life than simply what we see through our small eyes. Find something to believe in, after all what’s the point of living if you don’t believe in something worth dying for.
