Never underestimate the conservatives. We fight for the right!

Now that the election is over, the liberals can finally get rid of their party slogan of the last four years, “we wuz robbed,” stop complaining and just accept the fact that the people overwhelmingly chose George Bush for president.

Now is the time to concede gracefully and let the loyal opposition step up.

Over the last four years, and over the last six months in particular, the left has propagated such a deep sense of hatred toward the president that it almost seemed as though their efforts like “The New Voters Project” and “MoveOn.org” might actually work in their favor.

But, tah-dah! Looks like their plan may have backfired.

The left’s public hatred and whining did nothing but make many people realize that they really do believe in Republican ideals.

Mental note for the vocal left: much like a two-year-old, public whining gets you nothing, except perhaps that which you were trying to avoid.

I have got to hand it to the ambitious left.

They put up a very good fight and made this presidential election a difficult fight until the very end, which is exactly the way it should be.

We have exercised democracy to its very fullest and the best man won. For you liberals who continue to boohoo about your loss (don’t deny it, I have heard and seen it all over campus), there is something valuable you can learn from your candidates.

First the left can learn from one of the candidates that actually did win, Senator-elect Ken Salazar.

His acceptance speech was graceful and eloquent; not boastful. He stated that his challenger Pete Coors put up an excellent and tough fight, and that he is a “good guy.”

Between both of the men there was an admirable display of professionalism and grace.

But the biggest lesson the left can learn is from their losing candidate, Sen. John Kerry. He opted not to drag out the election by demanding a recount, realizing that Bush in fact did win the presidency. He helped out the nation by respectfully conceding in what we know to be a gracious conversation. We saw no whining from this tough competitor, but rather a respectful step back. Two good things came out of the amazing effort from the Democratic Party: not only did the Republicans win, but the Democrats also finally realized what true ethics are. Here’s hoping they stick to the moral integrity Kerry so respectfully displayed.

If what I said pisses you off, you are obviously a liberal, so chew on this: President Bush was re-elected by the largest number of people in history… the people have spoken! What’s next for the liberals in America? This phrase may be something new to them but it must be learned immediately: the loyal opposition. This means that they accept the fact that their candidate lost, and remember the fact that they are all Americans just as much as their conservative counterparts. It is time to join together in the face of difference and adversity, stop the whining and get on with our lives.
