We all know that parking at DU has always been a problem. There never seem to be enough spaces on the streets for commuters or people who can not afford parking permits. Not to mention that many of the spots are metered and wind up costing the person who is parking several dollars for a couple of hours. Now there seems to be added insult to this injustice.

Now all of the street parking around DU has been changed to one hour parking only. And the Public Works Department of the City of Denver is having a field day. The use of “the boot” and the over eager distribution of parking tickets begins to add up.

The thing that I love about the one hour parking rule is that the average class at DU is one hour and 50 minutes long meaning that any decent student will have to leave their class half way through to move their car. The likelihood, though, that they will find another place to park is very unlikely.

I suppose the only solution is to fork out several hundred dollars for a parking permit if there are any left. If you can’t afford that, my suggestion would be to invest in a bus pass.
