Bridges to the

Future

The first of three events in DU’s Bridges to the Future series will take place tonight in the Richie Center at 7 p.m.

Author, educator and activist Parker Palmer will speak kicking off this year’s theme, “A Nation Still at Risk: The Future of Education.”

The event is free but reservations are required. Visit www.du.edu/bridges to register.

Fair Voting Forum

The Anti-Defamation League will host a fair voting forum tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Chambers Center at the Women’s College.

The forum will address ways to ensure that all Coloradans have access to a fair election. Light refreshments will be served.

Study abroad fair

The annual study abroad fair will take place tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Campus Green.

Representatives from over 25 universities and study abroad programs will be available to talk to students about the opportunities available.

There will also be information about the Cherrington Global Scholars program.

DU 2008

Convocation

The 2008 Faculty and Staff Awards Luncheon will take place tomorrow in Magness Arena. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. and lunch will begin at 12 p.m.

Speakers will include Chancellor Robert Coombe and University Lecturer Jack Donnelly.

All DU faculty and staff are welcome, however reservations are required and can be made at http://portfolio.du.edu/convocation.

Buddhism forum

The SGI Student Association will present an introduction to the history of Buddhism and the practice of Nichiren Buddhism tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the Driscoll Fireside Room.

The forum is free and open to all students.

Seriously Funny series

Award-winning author and humorist David Rackoff will join DU professor Allison Horseley for a special class as a part of the Center for Judaic Studies’ year-long series, Seriously Funny, tomorrow at 12 p.m.

The series will also include a talk featuring Rackoff at the Clocktower Cabaret in Denver at 7 p.m. tomorrow and a writing workshop on Thursday at 6 p.m.

This event is available to DU students only.

Job fair

The Job Fair hosted by Student Employment will take place on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Representatives from a variety of local companies will be available.

Students interested in finding off campus employment are encouraged to attend.

Slavery Still

Exists week

Slavery still exists week will began yesterday and will continue through Saturday.

Events include a lunch-time discussion on Human Trafficking, a meditation session, the screening of the film “Amazing Grace,” and an Interfaith Panel discussion which will compare modern day slavery to historical slavery.

All of the events are designed to draw attention to and build awareness of the issue of slavery and human trafficking in the modern world.

These events are free and open to the DU and Denver communities.
