Get ready for some Mile High-flying thrills as you rock, ride and fly at Six Flags Elitch Gardens.

Colorado’s Coaster Capital has more than 45 rides, attractions, concerts and shows-including the all-new, one-of-a-kind Flying Coaster.

Six Flags Elitch Gardens is offering a new ride this year, the Flying Coaster, along with more than 23 other rides.

Some of the most popular rides include the Boomerang, Mind Eraser, Twister II, Shake Rattle & Roll and the Tower of Doom.

The Boomerang consists of high-speed loops and twists that go both forward and backward. The ride starts at a 125-foot lift tower and goes more than 50 mph.

The Mind Eraser suspends riders from the track above. The ride goes as high as 100 feet and can reach a speed of 60 mph. Twister II offers 100-foot drops, dips, twists and a pitch-black tunnel.

Don’t like roller coasters? Tower of Doom offers a 22-story free-fall while the Shake Rattle & Roll swings through the air causing riders to flip upside down multiple times.

Like rides that are modeled after an extreme adventure? The Turbobungy is a cross between a bungy jump and a trampoline. The downside is that this attraction costs an extra $7 for only 2.5 minutes of exhilaration.

Don’t forget to check out some of the other rides. Chaos tilts, turns, whirls and rotates with totally random-action seats, making no two rides the same. Rainbow swings side-to-side as well as up and down, as the Sea Dragon swings only front and back.

The Sidewinder is another roller coaster that goes through one loop forward and backward. Spider, Tea Cups and Tilt-A-Whirl all allow riders to twirl themselves around in circles.

Relief from the sun is within the amusement park. The two water rides are Disaster Canyon, riding on a raft through rapids and waterfalls, and Shipwreck Falls, going up a 50-foot incline and plunging down into a wave pool. For those that want to play in the water, there is the water park that will be open from May 18 to Sep. 8 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Six Flags Elitch Gardens opened this past weekend and will be open until no later than October 27. The park will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends and throughout the entire summer. For specific hours, check out the website at http://www.sixflags.com/parks/elitchgardens/ParkInfo/index.asp.

The price of regular admission is $32.99 and season passes can be purchased for $63 unless you buy a four-pack, which would be $52 each.

Adventurers also have the option of upgrading their season passes to the gold pass for $25. The gold pass includes exclusive ride time and water park private parties, 25 percent off regular-priced food and retail throughout the season. Gold Pass holders also get a value book with free tickets to Colorado Rockies, Colorado Rapids, Denver Zoo, Botanic Gardens, Butterfly Pavilions and one free parking voucher.

Group rates are also available for parties of 10 or more.

For those who don’t want to pay the $10 to park, there is the new C line light rail. The new line runs from Littleton/Mineral Station to Union Station in LoDo with a stop at the new Pepsi Center/Six Flags Elitch Gardens light rail station. Still kind of confused? Look for the new orange light rail car.

Six Flags Elitch Gardens is located right off of I-25 and Speer Boulevard on Elitch Circle, about 15 minutes away.
