Comedy for a Cure
Hillel will present “Comedy for a Cure,” a comedic event featuring Daniel Enfield, semi-finalist of the Comedy Works New Faces Contest, Rob Gleeson, of National Lampoon and Jordan Zuckerman, winner of the Comedy Works New Faces contest, tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Driscoll Ballroom. Tickets will be $5 in advance and $7 at the door.
All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the American Jewish World Service, an international development organization dedicated to alleviating poverty, hunger and disease among the people of the developing world.
This event is co-sponsored by the Rose Youth Foundation, the Center for Multicultural Excellence, Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity and the Social Justice Living and Learning Community.
Women in
politics lecture
The Gender and Women’s Studies department will present a talk titled “Women in Politics” by Faith Winter, former politician and National Field Director of the White House Project tomorrow in Sturm from 4 – 6 p.m.
The White House Project is a nonprofit organization that aims to advance women’s leadership in all communities and sectors by filling the leadership pipeline with a diverse group of women.
Winter will comment on the barriers that women face in getting elected and the opportunities they can find once in office.
Teach for America info session
Teach for America will hold an information session tomorrow from 7 – 8 p.m. in Craig Hall’s community room.
The information session is co-sponsored by the Honors College.
Election results viewing party
DUPB, Late Night @ DU and Partners in Learning will host a viewing party of the election results on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Cable Center on Buchtel Boulevard just south of the Ritchie Center.
The news coverage will be projected on the giant screen and there will be food and political pundits from DU’s Political Science Department available to discuss the results.
This event is free and open to the DU community.
Women’s
leadership panel
The Business Ethics and Legal Studies Department at the Daniels College of Business will hold a Women’s Leadership in the 21st Century panel on Monday, Nov. 10 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the University Park Church located across the street from Daniels.
The panel will feature Debra Canales, Anne Dupont, Cynthia Fukami and Virginia Berkeley, who will examine the concepts of business leadership from a woman’s point of view and what it means to be a female leader in the 21st century.

Study abroad scholarship
A new study abroad scholarship, totaling up to $20,000 is available to undergraduate students interested in studying in areas of critical interest to the United States, including Africa, Asia, central and eastern Europe and the Middle East.
The David L. Boren Scholarship, funded by the National Security Education Program, allows students considering a career with a federal intelligence agency to participate in a pre-arranged study abroad program in one of these regions of the world.
After graduation Boren Scholarship Recipients complete their scholarship requirements by completing one year of service at a federal agency such as the Department of Defense or the CIA.
The deadline to submit an application is 12 p.m. on January 16, 2009.
