The University of Denver’s New Student Orientation, Discoveries is hiring leaders for next fall.
Orientation leaders are responsible for facilitating activities, peer advising and helping first-year and transfer students register for classes. Those selected will be paid $250 to $500.
Any student who is interested in meeting other students, helping new students, working with faculty, and gaining valuable leadership experience is encouraged to apply to be an Orientation Leader.
Applications are available at the front desk of all Residence Halls, in The Center for Academic and Career Development, located below the bookstore, as well as online at www.du.edu/discoveries. Applications are due Wednesday, February 18 by 4:00PM in The Center.
Three informational sessions will be held on tomorrow at 7 p.m. in both Nelson Private Dining Room and Centennial Halls classroom, as well as on Friday at 1 p.m. in Sturm Hall, room 253
Orientation leaders will attend a spring retreat training session in the mountains and a luncheon to meet and work with a faculty partner.
“While the spring training is important, the fall training is when we really hit the material hard,” said Jonathan Kopf, 2004 Discoveries leader.
Orientation leaders should be back to campus by Sept. for training. Students living on campus will be allowed to move in the day before.
Questions should be directed to Kopf (jkopf@du.edu), Andy Losier, (alosier@du.edu) or Lisa Matye Edward (lmedward@du.edu).
