10. The X-Factor: Tears and Tantrums
The X-Factor has taken America and the U.K. by storm and the Clarion has covered it every step of the way, including the tear-filled elimination of Rachel Crow.
9. Messianic group spreads hate
A group called Menorah Ministries, a Messianic religious organization, was passing out controversial fliers in the Driscoll Bridge.
8. Pioneer Pervert to pinch again?
A victim of the Pioneer Pervert, an unidentified man who allegedly fondled two female students – one on Saturday, Aug. 27, and another on Monday, Sept. 26 – spoke out about her attack in a Clarion exclusive.
7. Panda Express gets thumbs down
Panda Express considered a location where Sidelines Pub is located, causing a minor uproar on campus.
6. DU student diagnosed with Tuberculosis
An unidentified female DU student was diagnosed and treated for Tuberculosis, causing a scare.
5. Bed bugs continue to cause problems for J-Mac
Eight students were displaced from MacFarlane Hall after DU officials heat-treated rooms infested with bed bugs.
The Daniels College of Business was evacuated because of a bomb threat made directly to a DCB staff member.
3. Denver defeats Hopkins, advances to Final Four for first time in history
The Pioneers beat nine-time national champion Johns Hopkins 14-9 to advance to their first NCAA lacrosse Final Four.
2. The Art of War, sex and academic freedom
A watchdog organization from Philadelphia sent a letter to Chancellor Robert Coombe last Friday charging that the actions by DU administration against Arthur Gilbert, a professor in the Josef Korbel School of International Studies accused of creating a “sexually harassing hostile environment”, have threatened free speech and academic freedom.
1. DU to host first 2012 presidential debate, receive help from city for funding event
DU will hold the first debate between President Barack Obama and the eventual Republican presidential nominee at Magness Arena in less than a year from now, on Oct. 3, 2012.
