DU’s “new” tower, the “Johnny Cash Memorial Tower”, sat atop the Physics and Astronomy Building for a week. The tower was constructed of particle board and painted gold by students calling themselves “George W.” and “Saddam”.

They claimed that the tower was erected to show their disgust at the fact that DU can fund the construction of multiple spires, but not graduate student research. The tower has been taken down.
