The DU Alpine Club took a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyo. this past spring break for a weekend of skiing.

With over 4100 feet of vertical drop, Jackson Hole was ideal for a weekend of skiing on some amazing terrain, said Tim Spano, alpine club member.

The trip got off to a rocky start due to the storm. Originally the club was supposed to take the 23 participants in two large passenger vans, but the vans were unable to get to DU Thursday morning. The participants loaded into personal vehicles and made the 10 hour trip north through the rockies.

“We were lucky that Trent had a Tahoe, it made the trip much more comfortable,” said Spano. “Since we didn’t get the storm that Colorado got, the skiing was just all right.”

“There was a lot of ice in the morning, but as it warmed up, the ice turned to slush and actually made for lots of nice skiing,” Spano said. “Jackson has tons of difficult terrain and lots of rocks and cliffs to drop from so it made for an excellent trip.”
