The DU ski team was unable to complete a four-peat as the Pioneers finished fifth at the NCAA Championships March 5-9 in Hanover, N.H.

The University of Utah won the championship with a dominating team that was able to rack up 682 points, winning for the first time since 1997.

Denver’s team ended with 522.5 points, 11 short of the fourth-place finisher New Mexico, and 29 points behind the second-place finisher.

This season has been a struggle for the Pioneers. The team has not finished higher than third in any invitational.

Although consistent and able to finish high, the skiers were unable to score sufficient points to be the top team in the country.

The team had a number of “Did Not Finishes” that prevented a sufficient number of points in events throughout the season.

The national championships were hosted by Dartmouth University with alpine events held at the Dartmouth Skiway and Nordic events at nearby Silver Fox.
