Dave Matthews Band’s newest album, Stand Up, was released this spring.
Busted Stuff was the band’s last album, which was released almost three years ago.
The band seems to have redeemed their loyal head bopping, popped collar fan base with Stand Up.
On this album they took a risk by hiring Mark Batson a producer and keyboardist who has worked with hip-hop and R&B clients on numouros albums.
Batson is featured on a number of tracks such as “American Baby” and “Louisiana Bayou.”
The songs “You Might Die Trying” and “Old Dirt Hill” are not at all like the band’s well known songs as “Ant’s Marching” and “Warehouse,” from the late 1990s. Their longtime fans might take a while to get used to these new and different tracks.
But while the band continues to embrace new listeners it may be turning off the fans that started following the band for their tranquil jams.
For those who have always liked the mellow groove of the band, Stand Up is an album not to be passed up for this summer’s listening.
