What Went Right
Just about everything went right for the Pioneers in this opening game. Sophomores Kara Secora and Lauren Ciccomascolo each scored four goals in the game and had two assists. Freshman Kirsty Faulder also scored four goals and senior Ali Flury finished with three.
What Went Wrong
The Pioneers did not leave anything to chance as they started the game on a 6-0 run. When that kind of lead is built, there really is nothing that can go wrong.
Up Next
The Pioneers have two big road games this week as they travel to North Carolina to play against No. 5 ranked Duke in Durham on Friday, and No. 4 ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Sunday.

What Went Right
Freshman guard Emiko Smith tied a DU record when she recorded 13 assists in Thursday’s loss to UNC. Junior Brianna Culberson and sophomore Kaetyln Murdoch each had 22 points in the contest. Freshman Sarah Feeney finished with a career high 14 points off the bench.
What Went Wrong
In Saturday’s loss, DU failed to comeback after FAU opened the second half with a 11-0 run. With the loss Denver dropped to 8-4 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Pioneers are now three games behind Arkansas Little-Rock in the SBC West Division.
Up Next
The Pioneers hit the road to take on conference opponents Middle Tennessee and North Texas. Denver must get back on track after dropping their last four games.
Men’s Tennis (6-0)
DU 6, Middle Tennessee 1
DU 4, New Mexico 3
What Went Right
No. 63 Denver was all over No. 57 Middle Tennessee from the start. DU won the doubles point and five singles matches. Freshman Aaron Wicker got his first start and won his match 6-2, 6-4.
The match against No. 50 New Mexico went all the way, but sophomore Yannick Weihs of Gunstramsdorf, Austria clinched the victory for DU, winning his match 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-4.
What Went Wrong
Against New Mexico senior David Simson was forced to retire in the third set of his singles match against New Mexico’s Ben Dunbar.
Up Next
DU hosts BYU on Friday and Drake on Sunday. The match against BYU is at CAC-Inverness in Englewood, Colo., and is set to start at 7 p.m. The match against Drake will be held at Pinehurst Country Club in Denver and will start at 12 p.m.
