The quarter system that we all have come to know seems to fly by in an instant. But when you hit the halfway mark, many students can agree that the rest of the quarter can be quite daunting. Here are three things to keep in mind as you navigate the rest of the school year.

  1. Got the Sunday scaries? Plan your week ahead of time.

Something that always helps me when trying to sort out my week ahead of time is writing down everything that is due for that week in my planner. I treat this planning session as productive time and I value it as much as I value the homework itself. Some may argue that seeing it all in front of you makes you more stressed out, but don’t knock it till you try it. Studies show that writing tasks down helps with time management and memory.

  1. Feeling suffocated by schoolwork? Take your break outside.

We all know that taking study breaks is extremely important and beneficial. If our breaks seem to go by faster and faster each time, take your next one outside. Taking a few deep breaths of fresh air helps reset my brain for my next spurt of productivity. There are plenty of places on campus that provide students with a nice view and some grass to touch — two necessities during these last few weeks.

  1. Isolation is real — find friends to study (and take breaks) with.

Surrounding yourself with productive and motivated people is key, even if we are all just pretending to be. Finding a study buddy, or someone to help keep you accountable, can make a huge difference in your mental health. It’s not just about studies though – find friends who can tell you to take a break when you need one! Plus, sharing your experiences and strategies with others can help them find the groove they need.

I hope this article serves as a reminder to take care of yourself, check up on your friends and finish the quarter off strong. We got this!
