If you are a sports fanatic who doesn’t mind I-70 traffic, enjoys winter sports and is willing to spend a whole weekend with small amounts of sleep, the Winter X Games should be on your bucket list for next year or your next Aspen Ski trip.

The Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado, is a three-day event that holds four different winter sports competitions at Buttermilk Ski Resort, allowing professional skiers and snowboarders from all over the world to compete against each other and show off skills and tricks that most of us could only dream of doing. It is arguably the most extensive skiing and snowboarding event of the year.

The X Games features most of the events in the afternoon and evening hours, allowing visitors to enjoy the town of Aspen and nearby resorts during the day. Visitors can enjoy music shows from famous artists like Kaskade, Yung Gravy, and more during the competition breaks, with many food and drink options also available.

Now, it all sounds pretty, but is it worth it?

Before you plan your X Games adventure for 2024, it is essential to highlight a couple of details. Even though Aspen is four hours away from Denver, that is never the case. I-70 always presents challenges, and you will most likely hit traffic.

Next, lodging can be expensive. If you are willing to spend a decent amount of money, you can book a hotel or condo in Aspen, which will shorten your commute. Or you can look at some nearby towns offering multiple Airbnb and hotel options.

Parking can be an immense pain in a**. X Games uses a system of shuttles that move people in and out of the resort. This works well during the day and when getting to the resort. However, if you decide to stick around until the end, you will find yourself in a line that could take more than an hour to board the shuttle.

However, I recommend that everyone go and experience the X Games live. It is a great place to see your favorite skiers and snowboarders land some of the most incredible tricks while spending time with friends in a different setting.

Although some minor details could make you doubt this trip, I assure you and your friends will have a fantastic weekend traveling to Aspen. Book in advance, find some friends to share the stoke and enjoy a weekend packed with adventures, great music and a competition that never disappoints.

The X Games is a one-in-a-lifetime experience anyone should aim to attend if they have the opportunity.
