On Oct. 18, DU’s Programming Board (DUPB) hosted Fall Fest from 5 to 7 p.m. on the campus green.

The event drew several different people from young ages, students and families here visiting for DU’s homecoming weekend.

There were many free food and drink options in theme with the fall season. Beans Cafe was giving out warm apple cider made from scratch. The grilling society attracted the longest line, providing different meat options and seasoned corn. The desserts provided were a variety of different flavored belgium waffles from Waffle Cakes food truck.

Five-hundred hockey tickets for the weekend games against Boston College were given out. The tickets were given out to those who participated in two or more of the activities. The options were: pumpkin painting, apple slingshot, pie-eating contests, make your own caramel apple, sack racing, ring toss and face painting.

The event was family-friendly and attracted kids of all ages.

When you first entered the fest, there was a bit of a wait to get in. The fest had many attractive variables. It was also a perfect event for the crisp but not too cold weather that day. It was very social. People would gather in large groups to share paint and decorate their individual pumpkins.

Young kids could enjoy simple activities like sack racing and caramel apple making, but older participants enjoyed the relaxation of painting and socializing while eating delicious food for free.

The event provided free t-shirts for all who came to enjoy the change of seasons. The pumpkins for painting were sprawled out along the lawn like DU’s very own pumpkin patch. The rather long lines for the food were tolerable with a cup of warm Beans apple cider in your hands.

Overall, the fest was filled with fun fall spirits.
