DU earned a 14-8 win over Providence College this past Saturday, Apr. 20th.

The Pioneers’ junior Ethan Walker (Petersburg, Ontario) and sophomore Jack Hannah (Milford, Ohio) seemed to be the dream team this week, collectively scoring six of the 14 total points for Denver.

Walker put Denver in the lead, scoring two goals within a minute and a half of each other. Hannah and redshirt senior Matt Neufeldt (Naperville, Ill.) kept speed, both scoring goals only two minutes later. Providence regained its composure, scoring three goals in the last five minutes of the quarter.

Providence brought their newfound gumption into the second quarter, scoring another goal in the second minute to tie the game 4-4. Denver found its footing again as senior Quinn McKone (Novato, Calif.) and Hannah broke the tie on a two goal streak. The half time score was 6-4 with Denver taking the lead.

After halftime, Walker scored his 32 goal of the season with assistance from sophomore Riley Curtis (Brampton, Ontario). One minute later, Sophomore Ted Sullivan (Tuscon, Ariz.) scored bring the third quarter score to 8-5.

The score was not long standing, as Denver junior Schuyler Blair (Huntington Beach, Calif.) scored within the first 10 seconds of the final quarter. Providence was quick to respond, scoring goal number six two minutes later. Hannah, Walker and Sullivan each contributed goals and senior Colton Jackson (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) closed out the game with two consecutive goals in the last three minutes.

The win brings the Denver Pioneers to 3-1 in the big east season conference with the only loss being against Villanova. They are set to play Marquette in Milwaukee this upcoming Friday, Apr. 26th.
