On April 22, the Regional Transport District (RTD) held an opening ceremony for its newest light rail line. The University of Colorado A-Line is 23 miles long and will transport passengers from Union Station to Denver International Airport (DIA).

According to RTD’s website, the new line can transport passengers from Union Station to DIA in 37 minutes, stopping at eight stations along the way. For DU students, the cost of taking the University of Colorado A-Line is incorporated in the CollegePass students are provided by the university.

RTD’s website states that the University of Colorado is the first group to partner with RTD in its new long term corporate partnership program, a program designed to expand revenue opportunities to support a  variety of services and programs. As a result of this partnership, the A-Line is branded as the University of Colorado A-Line.

Alongside the University of Colorado A-Line, RTD plans to open three other lines this year. The B-Line will take passengers from Union Station to Westminster in 11 minutes, the G-Line will take passengers from Union Station to Wheat Ridge in 25 minutes and the R-Line will travel through the city of Aurora and will connect the University of Colorado A-Line to the H, E and F Lines.

RTD also has many other future light rail expansion projects planned as well. More information can be found on their website.
