The Pioneers’ golf programs are off to a strong showing this season, with women’s golf recently placing first in the Ron Moore’s Intercollegiate Tournament in Littleton, Colorado on Oct. 11. This victory was monumental for the Pioneers, making this victory the first no. 1 title for Denver this season and the first time they have captured this tournament’s victory in six years.

Denver defeated runner-up University of San Francisco by five strokes. Freshman Katharina Baratta (Klosterneuburg, Austria) led the Pioneers, tying for fifth. This was her season best.

In September, Baratta was named the Summit League Player of the Month, a prestigious award. Baratta’s freshman campaign has been off to a strong start. She recorded her first top-10 finish in the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Wolcott, Colorado on Sept. 23 where she tied for eighth, scoring 73-74-73 respectively over the three-day tournament.

According to rankings published by Golfweek on Oct. 8, the Lady Pios are ranked no. 63 in the nation, followed by the men who come in at no. 212.
