Beans, the coffee shop in the hospitality school, is one of the most enjoyable places to stop at on campus. Serving coffee drinks made from Vail Mountain Coffee and meals like salads, sandwiches and pastries from Boulder Breadworks, anything at Beans is sure to be quality. It is the perfect place to meet up on campus with friends or go during the day to study.
Beans is run entirely by students in the hospitality school, who are in charge of ordering all products, staffing the shop and planning any events that take place. One of these events takes place every Thursday from 4:30 to 7:30— Beans After Dark.
At Beans After Dark, fine wines are featured by the glass, with free appetizers for anyone in attendance. Recently they have incorporated entertainment during as well, such as one of DU’s a cappella groups, the Idiosingcrasies.
Beans After Dark is organized and planned by Riley Moore and Miranda Groh, both seniors and hospitality majors. Since all selections for the evening are made by students rather than faculty, the event has a young and energetic feel to it, lacking the awkwardness that similar events have when not planned by students.
Beans After Dark is a perfect opportunity to relax with friends or meet new people over a glass of wine and free food. You can even enjoy some entertainment, depending on the evening.
