The sun is out, all signs of snow have melted away, and it is officially Spring Quarter. Everyone knows Spring Quarter has a sort of surreal atmosphere at DU, so this spring it’s time to put away those winter blues, enjoy the outdoors and listen to the wise words of Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa: live young, wild and free.

“Go Outside” – The Cults

Now that the days of sleet and snow are gone, it’s time to get out of hibernation and go outside. This Cults track is the perfect song to forget about the stresses of school and to just enjoy life.

“Hang Loose” – Alabama Shakes

Winter quarter is behind us. Summer is ahead. Why worry? Brittany Howard’s soulful voice soothes all apprehension about the future and you will never want to worry again.

“Young Folks” – Peter Bjorn and John

Most of us are still trying to continue on with our lives, blissfully enjoying our time in college before reality starts to kick in. Being a college student is supposed to be the best four years of your life and there’s no better way to do that than to be young.

“Starry Eyed Suprise” – Paul Oakenfold

The party never ends in spring. With the lacrosse tailgates, campus events and music blaring throughout Driscoll Lawn, it seems like we’re all on top of the world. Everything in spring just seems to be better and Paul Oakenfold’s energetic anthem is the ultimate song for spring.

“After the Storm” – Mumford & Sons

They say April showers bring May flowers but knowing Denver’s unexplainable weather patterns, spring isn’t always sunny. There are the occasional snowstorms and rain showers so when you are cozy inside near the fire you can enjoy Mumford’s lullaby.

“Daylight” – Matt & Kim

Those shorter winter days are over and with daylight savings, our days are getting longer. There’s no excuse to be stuck inside Anderson Academic Commons when we could be taking advantage of the daylight. Go to the park, take a walk or just sit on the porch and enjoy the scenery.

“Walking on a Dream” – Empire of the Sun

DU’s spring quarter is sort of a fantasy. Everyone’s signs of winter blues are gone and people just seem happier. Whether you are in your car with the windows rolled down, playing games at the park or studying for a midterm, hearing this song will leave you better from when you started.

“These Days” – Dr. Dog

Not everyone’s spring quarter is smooth sailing. Most of us are busy writing papers and studying for midterms, so if you are stressed, don’t fret. As much as you don’t want to be wasting your time in the library, these days will only get better.

“One Day/Reckoning Song (Wankelmut)” – Asaf Avidan, Mojos

For seniors, spring quarter is the last chance before stepping into the real world. One day that will be all of us, but for now, it’s better to just make sure we make the most of this quarter and of life because who knows what the future holds.

Cheers to a happy, healthy, sunny Spring Quarter!
