Summer is over, right? Not according to Real Estate, whose second LP oozes a laid back, summertime vibe and would be best enjoyed with feet dug deep into sand, a solo cup in hand.

The New Jersey (now Brooklyn) quartet’s sophomore album, Days, revisits the group’s now signature reverb-drenched, surf-rock sound and grapples with such themes as young love the difficulties of teenage life,  and the acceptance of maturity and responsibility.

These may seem like mature topics for a group of 20-somethings that exploded onto the scene only two years ago, but they handle them masterfully, never getting too serious and coating everything with their hazy, chilled-out sound.

This relaxed, everything-will-be-fine attitude is best encapsulated on closer “All the Same,” whose splendid chorus chimes, “It’s alright, It’s O.K., because the night is just another day.”

With track names like “Wonder Years” and “Younger Than Yesterday,” Days almost seems to be missing the phrase “the good ol'” in front of the title. Summing up this retrospective attitude is “Green Aisles,” an upbeat tune in which singer Martin Courtney croons: “Our careless lifestyle, it was not so unwise.”

Even being from New Jersey, Real Estate has been applauded as having a more genuine West Coast, Californian sound than many golden state bands themselves. Days solidifies them as a group atop that genre, taking them to the very brink of being fully-fledged surfboard carrying, In-N-Out eating Californians.

So, before whipping out the sweaters and hot cocoa, roll the car windows down one last time and let Days take you back to beach loungin’ and easy livin’.

If you like Real Estate, then you might also like: Dirty Gold. An incredibly talented trio of highschool students from San Diego whose sound mirrors Real Estate’s sun-soaked, summertime feel — and they’re actually from Cali!

You can see Real Estate on Nov. 3 at Moe’s Original BBQ in Englewood, Colo. Tickets are $12.
