The Office of Undergraduate Admission anticipates an even more qualified group of applicants for the class of 2016 than ever before, according to Todd Rinehart, director of admissions.

“The class we just enrolled this past September had an average academic profile of a 3.71 GPA, 1219 SAT (1600 scale) and a 28 ACT,” said Rinehart. “Our applicant pool this year will no doubt match or exceed the great class we just enrolled.”

The early action deadline for applicants is Nov. 1.

“At this time, applications are tracking very similar to last year, and we anticipate receiving approximately 15,000 applications by the conclusion of this admission season,” said Rinehart.

Although the admissions office is predicting a similar amount of applicants, it is apparent that more and more students are becoming interested in DU, according to Rinehart.

“Thus far, we have experienced increases in students visiting campus, as well as students registering for Ammi Hyde Interviews,” said Rinehart.

Rinehart said the admission committee’s goal is to spark high school students’ interest in DU.  A team of 14 admissions counselors travel to over 800 high schools around the country to promote DU.

“Once we complete our personal visits, we send our staff to 30 cities across the country in early November to conduct Ammi Hyde Interviews,” said Rinehart.

Some staff members also stay behind to host the numerous prospective students that come to visit campus.

“Most of our Friday programs in October have hosted over 200 people,” said Rinehart. “We are quite pleased with the number of students considering DU as a place to further their education.”
