It’s a flashback to the 60s with a colorful twist. It’s café meets chicken wings. It’s Zingers.

Situated on 2075 S. University Blvd., Zingers Restaurant opened in August of this year.

Zingers’ opening demonstrates Max Krieger’s, director of Zingers and 2009 DU alumnus, DCB entrepreneurial skills. That’s right, Zingers is one of a kind, proudly proclaimed an anti-franchise.

Inside, the bygone era is evoked by music from the Beatles, the Allman Brothers and the Grateful Dead and posters of the famous bands.

More than half the menu is under $10 and still most of it under $8.

Enjoy a bowl of chili, any of their sandwiches, a basket of wings or a fresh salad.

You can add fries or chips to any meal for just $0.99.

Colorado Green Chili is another item available on Zingers extensive menu, served with cheese, sour cream and cornbread.

Another entree to try is Premium Chicken Wings made with a sauce of your choice: BBQ, Buffalo, Teriyaki, Far East Fusion, Thai, Chili Limon or Hickory Smoked. Premium flavors are also available, which include Chipotle, Jamaican Jerk, Pineapple Habanero, and Crispy Ginger Wings. All these flavors are available to be ordered with or without bones.

These entrees can be enjoyed as either a dine-in basket or a University Chicken in a Bag, made specifically for college students on the go. The price of the bag starts at $5.99 for six wings.

Zingers offers a variety of sauces as well. Make sure before you choose your sauce to check it on the Zingers in-house heat-o-meter.

The WTF Buffalo sauce is sure to bring tears to your eyes caused by both the joyous taste of its zesty flavor as well as the shock that follows the realization that it’s extraordinarily hot.

Not to worry, the kitchen is ready with an ice-cold glass of milk when you realize you actually can’t take the heat.

Zingers also is home of the self-acclaimed Denver’s Best Chicken Sandwich.

If you can’t take the meat either, Zingers makes accommodations for vegetarian diners with meatless chili for $6.49, mac-n-cheese for $5.99 and a variety of salads to choose from starting at $6.49.

For the thirsty throats and hungry minds at DU, Zingers offers a free “student drank” every day along with a weekly special.

Zingers accepts DU’s flex cash and—starting in this month—will stay open until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, Zingers will also be introducing a delivery option.
