The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) has debuted its new and improved logo to replace the one that was penned by students last year.
“We received feedback from students and faculty about how the logo lacked a character specific to the University of Denver,” USG President Pro Tempore Milan Chatterjee said. “We took this feedback seriously.”
USG recruited members Vanessa Teck and Jordan Loyd to remake the logo by including something that more closely depicted DU. The result includes the Williams Tower and a more modern, dynamic font. This version of the logo is visible throughout the campus, on Facebook and on the USG student readership stands.
The logo consists of the letters USG in large, offset red font with “University of Denver Undergraduate Student Government” underneath.
The graphic of the tower on the Ritchie Center sits next to the letters USG.
According to Milan Chatterjee, the latest logo and nine other logos for committees and branches were produced originally by a graphic design firm, but were then modified by two DU students, all for under $500.
The logo was originally redesigned after last year’s student government found that a name change from the “All Undergraduate Student Association” to USG made the name more relative and memorable to students.
“We needed to created a new logo that depicted the student government’s name change and would also be highly recognized by the DU student body,” Chatterjee said.
“Our goal with these two new additions (the logo, as well as the USG’s new website) is to re-brand DU’s Undergraduate Student Government and to make this body more engaging and accessible for the undergraduate student body,” he said.
