Not many sports have seen as much division as skiing and snowboarding. Ten years ago the two were completely different sports. As I was standing in the half hour long line at A-basin, I noticed the complete revolution that has happened.

The lift line is a constant contest for the brightest, most impressive steeze. Skiers and snowboarders have stopped competing for space on the slopes. They have molded into one group, enjoying virtually the same sport, choosing to wear the same styles of clothes and progressing synonymously in all areas of the mountain.

It has become dominate of the extreme sports world, something that could not have happened without the contributions of each side.

While skiers slowly adopted baggier cloths and started spending more time sliding rails and hitting big features in the park, snowboarders started making turns on big mountain terrain and learning from their skiing counterparts.

I love what I see now and it’s great that we as a snow chasing culture have learned from each other regardless of whether we choose to pole plant or knuckle drag.
