Spain, located on the Iberian Peninsula, is full of rich culture, plentiful beaches and tons of night clubs which make it the perfect place for students studying abroad. Zachary Moar is currently studying in the heart of Madrid, the capital of Spain.
Moar has been soaking up the culture that surrounds him while also improving his Spanish-speaking skills. He is attending the University Antonio of Nebrija, which is only a metro ride away from his apartment.
“I have three classes in Spanish and one class in English,” said Moar. “I have early morning classes, two a day and I get out by 1 p.m. to enjoy a long afternoon siesta.”
Moar’s living situation has allowed him to make friends easily and he has complete freedom to do whatever he wants.
“The best part is being able to live with people who are from a completely different culture, Spaniards and Italians in my case, and learn about how they live,” says Moar.
Besides class, Moar has been travelling all over Spain and has plans to see different parts of Europe.
“I’ve been to Valencia, Granada and Toledo so far and have plane tickets for Amsterdam, Paris and Morocco,” said Moar. “I am going to Barcelona in December at the end of my study abroad trip.”
For those students looking to study abroad next year, Moar offers some advice.
“I would recommend that people study abroad where they can practice a different language, because in Europe, young people know three languages, where as Americans mostly only know English,” said Moar.
