It was no stroke of luck for the men’s swimming and diving team last weekend at the Sun Belt championships when they won their first-ever conference championship, lapping everyone with a score of 1,226. The women’s team made impressive strokes as well, coming in second place with a final score of 766.

The men’s team had eight event wins, 13 NCAA standard cuts, 19 new DU records and set eight SBC records.

Strong performers of the tournament were seniors Blake Worsley, who won three events, and Daniel Vollmer, who broke a 13-year old DU record in the 200 backstroke. Senior Diver and NCAA All-American Aaron Feight was the top-finisher in the SBC 1M and 3M diving events.

The Pioneer women won 10 events, set eight NCAA standard cuts, broke 16 DU records and nine SBC records. Michele Lowry, Katy Motsinger and Melissa Greeves were only a few of the outstanding performances in the pool for the women’s team.
