Senior Aaron Feight led the men’s diving team for two straight days before winning the Air Force Diving Invitational Saturday in Colorado Springs, while the women lost to CSU at home.

Feight dominated the 1-meter competition posting a score of 358.80, well above second place Tyler Miller of Wyoming, who had a combined score of 321.40.

Sophomore Seth McNew also competed placing tenth with a score of 212.00.

In the women’s competition, freshman Elizabeth Yovich, placed No. 25 of 29 with a score of 214.95 in the 3-meter event. Northern Arizona won the competition with a score of 294.03.

On Friday, the Pioneers women’s swimmers fought a hard battle, but lost to Colorado State 92-113.

In the 400-meter medley relay, DU’s team, comprised of sophomores Katy Motsinger and Hayley Ettelson, and freshmen Emily Kuhr and Kristen Schmid captured second place with a time of 3:58.82. CSU won with in 3:51.46. Denver’s B team also participated placing fourth with a time of 4:00.55.

Senior Michele Lowry posted a respectable time of 10:34.50 to finish third place behind CSU’s Kathleen Mcleary (10:27.19) and Medeline Gamble (10:28.96).

Junior Olivia Dean, raced for a first place effort in the 200-meter free style with a time of 1:53.34.

“Olivia Dean and Lisa Ginder really stepped up their performances tonight.” head coach Brian Schrader said. “Kristin Schmid really had some nice swims, particularly with her anchor on the 400 freestyle relay.”

In the 50-meter freestyle Schmid and Motsinger finished second and third with times of 23.92 and 24.22. CSU placed first with a 23.90 time.

Sophomore Melissa Greeves took second place with a time of 52.85 in the 100-meter free style. While Leung edged out CSU for first place with a time of 5:02.90 in the 500 meter free style.

Denver’s relay team of Motsinger, Greeves, Dean and Schmid took first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:29.92 while the other Denver relay team of Caitlin Summers, Needham, Case and Ettelson won third place with a time of 3:38.35.

“I was really proud of how well our women raced tonight,” Schrader said. “They are really gelling as a team and that is an important thing for us to be doing right now going into our conference meet.”

Next up, Denver hosts the Colorado School of Mines on Friday at 5 p.m. in El Pomar Natatorium for thier final home swim meet.
