A 20-year-old DU student was charged with vehicular homicide and given a citation for driving under the influence on Thursday, Sept. 25, according to a police report from the Denver Police Department.
James Hills was released on a $50,000 bond, which was paid in cash on Sept. 26, according to the report.
The report specified that Hills spent one night in custody at the Denver City Jail and had no prior traffic violations.
Hills’ attorney is Karen Steinhauser, according to the police report.
He is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.
According to sources, Hills was allegedly at an off-campus party that was broken up by police earlier in the night.
The vehicular incident occurred outside of the campus perimeter.
The name of the deceased is not available at this time; neither was information on Hills’ appearance in court.
Hills is currently attending classes on campus.
