nday morning caused a complete power outage in three campus buildings.
The power went out in the Amni Hyde Building, Physics Building and Central Receiving/Mail Services around 4:30 a.m. Monday morning, according to Tyrone Mills, associate director of Campus Safety.
“[It was a] power surge that came through and knocked out the transformer at that end of campus,” said Mills. “It…came from public service.”
All classes held in the buildings were cancelled Monday. Students whose classes were held in Amni Hyde had their classes moved to Sturm Hall.
The three buildings are located on the far west end of campus, between East Wesley Avenue and East Harvard Avenue.
Power went back on yesterday around 6:30 p.m.
“They have to go in and make some adjustments to the transformer and do some changes there, and they’re already working on that right now,” said Mills Monday afternoon.
Classes are expected to be back to normal today.
