There’s no better time for Hillary Clinton to quit the race for the Democratic presidential nomination than now.

There are at least two reasons why she should leave this race: the mathematical odds are against her and she’s dividing the Democratic Party.

Let’s look at the math. With only a handful of democratic contests left, Barack Obama has 93.1 percent of the delegates needed to secure the nomination, while Clinton has only 84.5 percent.

But it’s not just delegate numbers she’s lacking.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign has raised far less money than the Obama camp, causing her to fund her campaign from her own personal wealth.

Spending millions of her personal wealth on campaigning surely will eventually alienate her supporters from middle to lower income families.

In addition to this, by staying in this race, Clinton has not only divided her own party, but has also given GOP opponent John McCain time to build his attack on the Democrats.

Now that John Edwards has endorsed Obama campaign, Clinton’s decision to stay in the race only causes more animosity among Democrats.

This could only further hurt Clinton’s future political career.

What some of you reading this may be thinking is: more politics.

How does this affect me as a member of the DU community?

It’s simple.

Think back to Feb. 5, when Obama and former President Bill Clinton held rallies at DU.

Over 14,000 attended the Obama rally while around 4,000 attended the rally for Clinton.

Granted, it snowed later that day, but could one honestly contend that a few snowflakes would mean 10,000 less people?

The Clinton campaign has been faltering for months, even with the support of Bill Clinton.

In short, Hillary Clinton should now take a page from the Clinton family playbook: cut your losses and move on.
