Foothills Literary Journal will be released this upcoming week. It will contain the works of student authors, poets and artists. Look for it thoroughout campus.

Ownership in cyberspace

Today from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.in the Cable Center a symposium, “From Creator to Consumer: Working Together in the Digital World” will be held The Cable Cetner, a global resource of information, training and educational programs about and for the cable telecommunications industry. TYhe University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business, Sturm College of Law and School of Communication will together host the first annual Summit on Intellectual Property and Digial Media.

The two-day symposium offers an insightful and probing exploration of the myriad issues that are rapidly and dramatically changing the media landscape. The event will provide an opportunity for university scholars, regulators, practicing lawyers and executives from a variety of industries to engage in a discussion of the issues raised by changing technology and uses of information and media. Topics that will be addressed include digital rights management, consumer behavior and technology and a keynote speech providing a perspective from the creative community. The event is free. Body Worlds panel

A panel will held tonight in Sturm Hall 151 from 7 to 9 p.m. to discuss the Body Worlds 2 Exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

Members of the panel include a moderator with expertise on ethical deliberation, two religious studies individuals offering viewpoints from Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, a science professor who will focus on the ethics in science, a staff member from the university who is familiar with the historical and artistic aspects of the exhibit, and a representative from the museum who can answer all technical questions surrounding the exhibit.

Questions will be taken from the audience in addition to the panelists presenting viewpoints from their expertise.

DU awards ceremony

Tomorrow from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., the All University Awards Ceremony will recognize the achievements of DU students, faculty and staff. The event will be held in the Driscoll Ballroom and is free. For more information, please contact Amy Dible at adible@du.edu.

Senior art exhibit

The School of Art and Art History is still presenting the annual exhibition of work by graduating seniors from the school’s programs in studio art and electronic media and design in “(in)formal : BFA Exhibition,” running until June 10. Featured artists include: Kara Cochran, RobbieLee Deel, Amanda Lenz, Stefani Pahler, Joey Piccola, Naomi Scheck, Alexis Siler, Ashley Tucker, and Joshua Van Engen. The Shwayder Art Building where the exhibit is on display, is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and weekends 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call (303) 871-2846 with any questions.

“One Flea Spare”

The DU Department of Theatre continues is presentation of “One Flea Spare” this weekend, May 26 and 27, at 8 p.m. and May 27 and 28 at 2 p.m. in the Newman Center.

The show is about a detached wealthy couple, a mutinous sailor and a mysterious young girl, who find themselves quarantined in a house as London is ravaged by the plague of 1665. In this crucible of confinement, marital, social and personal relationships are strained, broken and refashioned as each character struggles against the imminent threat of death – and each other. Performing in the Elizabeth Erickson Byron Flexible Theatre (The Flex) within the Newman Center. Tickets are free to the university community the first weekend of the run. Bring your DU ID to the box office for tickets. End of year BBQ

An end-of-year barbeque will be next Tuesday from 12 – 1:30 p.m. at the International House. The event is free.

Global warming forum

On Wedesday, May 31, between 12 and 2 p.m. the communications class “Rhetoric and the Environment” is holding a discussion forum, “The Heat Is On” about how people perceive global warming. Lots of sponsors and interesting panelists will be present and students from any major are welcome to join.
