Foothills released

Foothills Literary Journal will be released this upcoming week. It will contain the works of student authors, poets and artists. Look for it thoroughout campus.

Senior art exhibit

The School of Art and Art History continues its annual exhibition of work by graduating seniors from the school’s programs in studio art and electronic media and design in “(in)formal : BFA Exhibition,” running until June 10. Featured artists include: Kara Cochran, RobbieLee Deel, Amanda Lenz, Stefani Pahler, Joey Piccola, Naomi Scheck, Alexis Siler, Ashley Tucker, and Joshua Van Engen. The Shwayder Art Building where the exhibit is on display, is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and weekends 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call (303) 871-2846 with any questions.

End of year BBQ

Today the end-of-year barbeque will be from 12 – 1:30 p.m. at the International House. The event is free. Come mingle, eat, enjoy and have fun at the last I-House lunch of the academic year!

Global warming forum

On Wednesday, the Department of human communication and students in Christina Foust’s Rhetoric and the Environment course are hosting a public forum on global warming. Light refreshments will be provided. The forum is the culmination of our quarter-long research project exploring how global warming is conceived by DU students; how it is talked about in public discourse; and how we might better frame it to promote responsible civic engagement and environmental action at the local and personal levels. The forum will consist of a panel discussion from 12:30 to 1:30 and information fair from noon to 2. Panelists include Dr. Lisa Dilling, National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, and co-author of the forthcoming book, Creating a Climate for Change, Professor Thomas Yulsman, Co-director of the Colorado University-Boulder Center for Environmental Journalism and Regional Representative Roger Singer, Rocky Mountain Sierra Club, organizer of the Cool Cities Campaign. R&R Night

On Sunday, June 4, the Driscoll Center will be open until 1 a.m. to help students prepare for finals. Come to read and review in quiet reading and group study areas available throughout Droscoll. There is dedicated space for class review sessions, so ask your instructor to schedule one. Peer tutoring available. There will also be free late night breakfast, mocktails and hot beverages served from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Driscoll Commons, plus chair massages offered 9:00 – 1 a.m. in the Gallery as well as a craft area for stress relief. Daniels annual barbeque

On Tuesday, June 6, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Daniels West Lawn and Carnegie Green, the Annual Barbeque for Alumni will welcome soon-to-be-graduates to the alumni community. It will be a Caribbean-themed party filled with food, drink, entertainment and old and new friends. Games will be provided for children. On Thursday, June 8, the International House invites DU international student to the International Student Graduation Reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the I-House. 2006 Commencement

Graduate and undergraduate commencement ceremonies will take place in Magness Arena in the Ritchie Center. The graduate ceremony for graduating Master’s and Doctoral candidates on will be Friday, June 9, starting at 5 p.m. will feature the speaker Heraldo MuCB1oz, Chilean Ambassador to the United Nations, MA ’76, PhD ’79. The undergraduate ceremony will be on Saturday, June 10, starting at 10 a.m, featureing speaker Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. Members from the class of 1956 will march with the undergraduate class of 2006 in the annual Spring commencement exercise. Commencement is a traditional part of the annual 50th reunion weekend.

Summer RA and conselor jobs

Need a job? The 2006 RMTS Summer Institute at the University of Denver is looking for several Residential Camp Counselors. The camp runs from Friday, July 7, to Saturday, July 29. Counselors will work with academically talented middle school students, earn $950 with room and board paid, plan and supervise extra-curriculur activities, chapperone field trips and provide emotional support and tutoring assistance.
