Those of us who are indecisive about what to eat at restaurants often get overwhelmed at the thought of ordering. We question the description on the items listed on the menu, and wonder whether they’re true or false. Or, we are picky eaters, and aren’t fond of experimenting with our taste buds.

However, at BD’s Mongolian Barbeque, ordering from a menu and deciding between the steak aux poivres or seared Ahi tuna is not the problem, it is when to stop filling up your bowl.

BD’s Mongolian Barbeque is a chic and exciting restaurant located right in the heart of downtown Denver. It’s a great place to spend time with old and new friends. It provides a comfortable and casual atmosphere that relates to any crowd.

The dCB)cor of the restaurant is appropriate for BD’s theme of traditional Mongolian cuisine and cooking style. The main cooking area is accompanied by a round cast-iron grill, which is positioned in the center of the restaurant.

Near the grill is the market area where customers design their own stir-fry creation. The seating arrangement around the restaurant is also fitting because no matter where diners sit they can watch the entertainment at the grill. In keeping with the cusine, BD’s is adorned with artwork featuring traditional Mongolian activities.

The service at BD’s is also another excellent feature of the restaurant. The wait staff provides assistance and explains how the Mongolian barbeque works. They do not serve the food. The chefs, otherwise referred to as “grillers,” cook your food right before your eyes. This process is entertaining while eating, and often mouth-watering.

BD’s features Mongolian traditional stir-fry cooking, which originated from Kublai Khan’s hunting party celebrations. Customers have the opportunity to create their own miraculous stir-fry dishes without any limitations.

The prices at BD’s are reasonably set, and vary depending on the contents of the bowl: vegetables, meats, seafood, or all of the above.

The vegetarian bowl is $10.99, while the meats and seafood bowl are $11.99. If you still find yourself hungry, you can order one bowl with a soup and salad for $12.99, or unlimited bowls for $13.99. Yet, I doubt that you’ll have enough room in your stomach after pilling up your bowl once with everything you crave.

Once you decide what you want to order, proceed to the market area. Here you will find a variety of ingredients to create your own meal. For instance, BD’s features a variety of meats such as, sirloin, pork, and lamb. The restaurant offers poultry and seafood. For those of us who are daring, I suggest adding either calamari or shrimp to your creation to add a little flare. After the meat selection, you can choose from many different vegetables.

Personally, I enjoy adding baby corn, water chestnuts, chives, mushrooms, sprouts, red peppers, and spinach to my dish; but I am a veggie lover.

To top it all off there are over 15 different types of sauces to make your dish delectable. There are the traditional sauces such as barbeque, black bean, peanut, and teriyaki.

Yet, there are also original and delicious sauces as well; Mongolian ginger, which combines garlic and ginger; shiitake mushroom, which is garlic soy sauce, Mirin rice wine, and of course shiitake mushrooms; and chili garlic sauce, which is a spicy combination of tomatoes, chilies, peppers and spices.

In addition to the sauces, there are also a variety of spices which you may choose from. My favorites are red chilies and ginger. When you are finished choosing your ingredients, bring it to the “grill” where the chefs will cook your amazing, and hopefully scrumptious meal.

BD’s Mongolian Barbeque is definitely an entertaining and eventful place for an evening around town.
