Matchbook Romance and other bands played at the Ogden Theater last week to raise awareness about teen suicide.
The Early November, Chiodos, Amber Pacific and We are the Fury also joined the line-up of the Take Action Tour.
The Early November played songs from their new album, due out this summer.
Matchbook Romance played songs from CD Voices, their new album that was released in February.
The band’s set featured songs such as “Fiction” and their new single “Monsters.”
During the show, vocalist Andrew Jordan of Matchbook Romance stated the tour is raising awareness about the causes of teen suicide, warning signs and how to prevent it.
He said fans have told band members how their music has inspired them. He hopes the music will help others.
The Take Action Tour was started in 2001 as a way to help young people recognize the early signs of depression and where to find help.
In years past, acts such as Jimmy Eat World and Thrice were part of the show.
The National Hopeline Network is also part of the tour.
Proceeds from the concert benefit the network’s suicide hotlines 1-800-SUICIDE (784-2433) and 1-800-YOUTHLINE (968-8454).
These hotlines offer support from other young people to those in need.
In addition, fans in the tour can sign an online petition that aims for the government to provide more suicide awareness funding.
