Digital Media is one of the hottest topics in today’s society.B With the stock market going crazy over tech companies such as Google and daily headlines about issues concerning file-sharing – we are constantly swimming in a world full of technology, whether or not we are even aware of it.
It is often hard to find applications that aren’t digital.B Staying on top of the current trends, regulations and tools is essential to succeed in today’s world, regardless of industry.B
A new student group on campus has been created to help fulfill this need, as well as to bring together students that have an interest in Digital Media.
The Digital Media Student Group plans to interest anyone with a passion to learn about the current tools and trends, to help members develop their design and technical talents, and to connect them with students, alumni and industry professionals.
Jeff Rutenbeck, Digital Media Studies Program director and group sponsor, will help the group by contributing new resources-many of which are not yet offered in DU classes.B
“We hope to offer students opportunities to connect with others as well as to learn outside of the classroom,” he stated. B
The group will be student led, but will also provide great connections with local businesses and alumni.
From advertising images to Web site standards compliance, the group is not intended solely for students in the Digital Media Studies Program but will be inviting anyone that has an interest in technology.B
Individuals from other disciplines, such as marketing, journalism and art are encouraged to participate.
Meetings will be held on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. on the second floor of Driscoll north, near Jazzman’s CafCB).
