Fraternity Zeta Beta Tau is encouraging DU students to resemble Rudolph during their week-long Red Nose philanthropy.
The fraternity will be selling red noses on campus this week for $1 a piece in support of the Children’s Miracle Network which funds the Denver area Children’s Hospital and National Jewish Medical Center.
“It’s a way to give back to the community,” said ZBT philanthropy chair Nate Hess. “The noses will lead the pack. It will be like a beacon around campus,” he continued.
Hess said that the noses represent the pain that kids stricken by illness go through. The 21 members in the fraternity will all be helping out with the project. In addition to selling noses, they will be on Driscoll Bridge this week handing out information on where the money will be going and how it will help.
The members will also join the Children’s Miracle Network during a radio spot Friday when they will present the charity with the money they raise on air. They will also visit the children and families in the hospital later that day.
Hess said that he hopes this project will encourage more people to volunteer in their community. “We need to be involved,” he said.
