Organizations planning to participate in the 23rd annual Festival of Nations, met last Thursday in the International House to plan this year’s event.
The Festival of Nations is the largest student-run event on campus. According to International Student Organization co-president Idie Si, it is about “bringing international students and anyone interested in international affairs together.”
Last week’s event was a dinner featuring a number of dishes from different cultures.
The aim of the dinner was to invite any organization with an interest in participating in this year’s festival, which will be held on April 15.
Last year about 46 groups were represented.
Groups attending the dinner included the Girl Scouts Mile High Council and Hillel.
Joy Henika of the Mile High Council said she is “looking to recruit girls and volunteers. The Girl Scouts also like being involved in different areas.”
Hillel aims to “share with others the Jewish culture as well as be part of an event where many groups have a common goal,” says Rachel Pinsker, campus director for the organization.
The festival offers ethnic cuisines and entertainment. Last year, there were Japanese drummers and an international fashion show.
The festival has a cultural theme. This year the theme is “Music: the Universal Language.” If you have an interest in participating, the deadline is March 24.
