DU PASS camp has opened registration for the summer season. PASS, which stands for Pioneer Athletic Super Summer, is entering its 13th season run at the University of Denver’s Ritchie Center.

The camp is open to children ages 6 to 12 and works specifically to begin developing their perceptual, cognitive and motor skills through sports including basketball, volleyball and swimming.

PASS has been a favorite among local Denver families, selling out for two of the past three summers. The goal of the camp is to stress the importance of a positive attitude, teamwork and sportsmanship through sports scrimmages and drills.

PASS campers have a choice between core “major” sports such as floor hockey, soccer, dance or basketball. Another 12 sports are offered with ice skating and swimming offered as available “minors.”

The program, offered every week for a 12-week season, will have its first week of camp starting May 30.

Junior Beverly Fountain believes the camp is a great way for DU to receive recognition within the community.

“I think it’s great that DU offers a camp that has such a close tie with the community,” said Fountain. “I’m sure it’s also a good job opportunity for Denver students that stay here over the summer.”

The camp costs $199 per week, but offers special discounts for multiple week registration and family member registration.
