If you’re craving a hot, fresh, baked bagel, don’t waste your time or substitute it for a plain slice of bread. Instead, walk over to Bruegger’s Bagels on University Boulevard.
Bruegger’s offers fast quality service and is the perfect place to study, grab a bite to eat or spend time with friends. There is always Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones or other favorites playing in the background, providing an upbeat atmosphere. As a plus, the shop offers free wireless Internet service.
Whether the shop is filled with the morning crowd or empty in the evening, Bruegger’s is a comforting environment for both relaxing and studying.
However, don’t be too shocked by the fast over-the-counter service, and the expectation of “knowing what you want.” Nonetheless, the employees at Bruegger’s are friendly and are always willing to make you a sandwich the way you want it.
Bruegger’s offers 16 different varieties of bagels like Asiago Parmesan, cinnamon sugar, rosemary olive oil. For those who like to keep things simple, a plain bagel is also available.
Each variety is baked fresh all day long, seven days a week. For $5.69 you can get a fresh-baked baker’s dozen, and for $3.69 a half-dozen bagels. Or if you just want a single bagel to eat on the way to class, it’s 69 cents.
Bruegger’s also offers its original “square bagels” for just 94 cents. Besides the classic choice of bagels and cream cheese, Bruegger’s also features original specialty and deli sandwiches, fresh salads and soups, and softwiches.
The breakfast classic menu offers the “Denver.” This breakfast dazzler comes with egg, honey ham, Swiss cheese, green pepper and red onion. It’s served on a choice of any bagel or a square bagel for only $2.99. I recommend this classic on a toasted onion or sesame bagel.
The Mediterranean is a perfect light sandwich that combines flavors from the Middle East on a fresh baked bagel for $4.39. It comes with hummus, sundried tomato spread, Muenster cheese, lettuce and red onion.
Personally, I do not think this sandwich would be complete if it wasn’t served on a rosemary olive oil bagel.
For those who are just looking for a typical, great deli sandwich, Bruegger’s has turkey, ham, roast beef, and the BLT as well as chicken or tuna salad. Vegetarians can select alternatives such as Garden Veggie and Hummus sandwiches.
All of these basic classics are cheap and delicious for only $3.99.
Bruegger’s is open every day 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the week and from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. It’s located at 2000 S. University Blvd. next to Starbucks and Look Opitcal.
