Saturday afternoon, the Ritchie Center was full of more toddlers than exercisers.During the inaugural Halloween Festival, children and adults alike had the chance to dress up and join in activities throughout the Ritchie Center. From the climbing wall to the moonwalk, there was something for children of all ages. Decked out in a variety of costumes, community members were invited to participate in this free event.”It’s just a fun, free, youth carnival for kids and adults,” said Tamara Tervel, Youth Activities manager. “It also exposes people to all of the programs we have here at the Ritchie Center.”Aimed at promoting recreational activities, the event included trick-or-treating, a moonwalk and several give-a-ways. With over 100 people attending, the event seemed to be a success.”I think the turn out is good. It’s our first time doing something like this and I’s been very positive,” said Tervel. The festival began at 11:30 a.m., following Pumpkin Dash 5K and Kids 1K, and lasted well into the afternoon. Because of the success both events are in the works to be held annually.
