Not sure who to direct this to, But as an Alum from Daniels (XMBA) thought you might want to do a story on this. My MBA project involved the Childrens Hospital benefits that this group has been doing.
Let me know if I should direct it at someone else.
Thanks!
———————-At Swingtime in the Rockies, the Dance TV Stars come to Denver
Denver, CO., August 2 2005
— Now that the first sessions of the hottest dance shows of the summer are almost over; television Dance personalities/stars are coming to Denver to help the many fans survive until the next series of dance excitement.
How? Simple — by getting them off the living room couch and get onto the dance floor!
That’s exactly what Americans across the country are doing right now. An unprecedented number of people logged on to www.denverswing.com once the variety of dance television shows began to air and we have registrants coming as far away as Hawaii, Vancouver and London to compete in the only National Association of Swing Dance Events (NASDE) and World Swing Dance Council (WSDC) Competion in the Rocky Mountain Region – Swingtime in the Rockies. With a 15-year history of promoting swing dancing in the Rocky Mountain region, Swingtime in the Rockies will be held August 18-21, 2005 at the Denver Marriott City Center.
Swingtime in the Rockies has continually created their own “Dancing with the Stars” events, bringing local and national dance stars in broadcasting and Broadway to create their own celebrity/student partnerships giving our event a touch of celebrity drama in Pro-Am competitions. Many of these Professionals/Instructors coming to Denver August 18-21 have been featured in major motion pictures such as “Polar Express”, “Dance with Me” and on television such as “Star Search”, “30 Seconds to Fame” and even morning talk shows such as ABC’s “Good Morning America” Past instructors have also been feature dancers in Broadway hits such as “Swing” and the off-broadway hit “SWANGO: The Musical”.
“We are thrilled that the entire country understands the excitement and appeal of dancing. Recent television coverage including CBS’s presentations, showed that with the right training and a real commitment, people with little or no dance knowledge can be transformed into great dancers,” said Kimberly Foss, Co-Director of Swingtime in the Rockies. “..while the television show’s focus was on competition, what goes on in dance studios and clubs all around the nation is a focus on having fun, learning to dance, getting exercise and the all the other benefits from spending free time in a relaxed and very social setting.” said Kevin Whiteley Co-Director of Swingtime in the Rockies and owner of Let’s Dance Denver; a local dance studio.
Rocky Mountain Swing Dance Club, the primary sponsor for Swingtime in the Rockies, has always held dance competitions, giving students an opportunity to partner with fellow students and professionals to showcase their dance skills. The organization also holds several large dance competitions and events in Colorado for those students who find that they are interested in competition.
Swingtime in the Rockies is the only national West Coast Swing competition and convention in the Rocky Mountain Region that awards NASDE and WSDC points in the Rocky Mountain Region; allowing competitors to compete through-out the year for the top prizes to be awarded at the US Open.
