Both collect entry fees and poetry manuscripts. The “winners” are often friends of the judges, and in one case, the spouse of the judge. In the case of the Bin Ramke competitions, published by University of Georgia, the final judges’ names were not disclosed until we obtained them in an Open Records request. University of Colorado professor Elizabeth Robinson is the most recent final judge. She selected a current Ramke student.
