Your neighbor studies while listening to loud, pounding music, turned up as high as possible. Your roommate studies while eating foods that you can smell from the hallway. You’re surrounded by distractions and need somewhere to go.
Luckily, there are multiple places on campus that students can go and find a quiet environment conducive to learning.

If it’s cold out, or you prefer to study indoors, away from the dirt, there are multiple quiet areas that students can retreat to in order to get their work done. The first and most obvious would be Penrose Library. Penrose provides study desks that offer privacy, quiet, and a lot of space in which to spread out one’s study materials.
Nelson Hall’s cafeteria, during non-mealtimes, is often quiet and empty. For residents of Nelson, there are study rooms on every floor, which have tables, ethernet jacks and windows, so you don’t feel like you’re in a prison cell.
J-Mac, Centennial Halls and Towers also offer study lounges on each floor, but they are not closed off like those in Nelson Hall.
The commons in Driscoll center and the area near Jazzman’s cafe are often quiet in the afternoons and evenings, though sometimes busy around lunchtime. Driscoll will also be open late especially for studying students the night of March 9.
The College of Law Building, has an open lobby and library in which students can study quietly, as well as a cafCB), located on the main floor just off the forum.
The Daniels Cafe, located in the Daniels College of Business Building, is a good quiet place to study, as long as it’s not during lunchtime.
The Gilbert Cyber Cafe, a coffee bar located on the main floor of Ben Cherrington Hall, is another quiet place to study.
The rotunda in Olin Hall is another quiet spot with internet access, big windows and a lot of good light.
Happy studying, and remember, getting enough sleep is important too.
