Boost soldier morale
To “help boost morale,” students are invited to write a letter to a soldier in Iraq. Drop boxes are located at the front desks of the residence halls. The drop boxes will be at the desks until tomorrow.
Apply for student media
The University of Denver Student Media Board is looking for applicants. The board is comprised of five undergraduate board members who vote on such issues as funding and trips to conferences for members.
The board is open to any and all who are interested in television, radio, newspaper or literary journals or who just have a general interest in communication and media. Members of all majors are welcome and previous media experience is not required.
Applications are available in the Office of Student Programs or are available by e-mailing Ana Nedergaard, the current chair of the board, at anederga@du.edu.
Applications are due Friday and all applicants will be asked to attend the meeting at noon on that day in the student media offices in Village Commons.
Jurer lecture
As part of the Myres S. McDougal Distinguished Lecture, the International Legal Studies Program is sponsoring a lecture on “The Absolute Prohibition of Tourture and Why it Should Stay that Way” featuring Sir Nigel Rodley.
The lecture is March 10 at 7 p.m.in the Driscoll Ballroom.
Admission is free. Doors open at 6:30.

Rodley currently serves as the elected United Kingdom member and vice chair of the Human Rights Committee of the United Nations.
He has also served as special rapporteur on torture of the UN Commission on Human Rights.
From 1973 to 1990 he served as the first legal adviser of the International Secretariat of Amnesty International.
The Myres S. McDougal Distinguished Lecture in International Law was established in 1976 by DU’s Professor Ved Nanda to honor his teacher, mentor and friend, the late Myres S. McDougal, a groundbreaking legal theorist.
Consular corp reception
The University of Denver Office of Internationalization is hosting a reception for the Colorado Consular Corps at the International House Wednesday, April 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Office of Internationalization is honoring the Colorado Consultar Corps and introducing the DU International Graduate Student Ambassors for leadership to the DU international community.
A buffet and live music will be provided.
