The Leo Block Digital Art Studio suffered a break-in where two computers with graphic art software were stolen, reported Campus Safety.
The break-in occurred between May 15 and May 17. The director of the lab discovered the missing equipment. Campus Safety continues to investigate. Currently, there are no suspects.
The lab is used by students who are taking classes in the School of Art and Art History classes whose professors require the use of special hardware and software in the studio, said Annette Stott, director of the School of Art and Art History. Students are given access to the lab by faculty members. The lab is locked 24 hours a day and only students in classes which require the facilities have the passcode.
The lab has been re-opened for students to work on their final projects for class.
“We will be monitoring the eStudios very closely for the rest of
the school year,” said Dave Sawyer, director of Instructional Technology Division of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. His e-mail also said any other violations could result in further restrictions, including limiting lab use to class time only.
