The University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business held its first meeting Tuesday for the Executive Mentor Program in the Dean’s Dining Hall.
Approximately 30 of the 60 graduate students attended the informational meeting.
The purpose of the Executive Mentor Program is to give Daniels graduate students the opportunity to meet with local, high level executives four to six times a year.
The objectives of the program are: to create small student groups that would not only meet with a local executive but also with other Daniels graduate students; to help students define and pursue career goals; and to create networking connections for each of the participants.
Some of the 15 corporate mentors include Nick Lyon, partner in Accenture; Perry Evans CEO of Aptas; Dave O’ Callghan the sales vice president of Cisco; Tracy Wagner the University of Denver’s director; and Scott Shiral who is the executive director of United Way. Other top executives are being recruited for the program.
Graduate student Stephanie Brady, pursuing her MBA, said, “I want to be a part of this to expand my network within the Denver business community.”
The Executive Mentor Program begins its first year at DU in late June or early July of 2004.
The program only accepts graduate students who will graduate no earlier than June 2005. The program will accept both part-time and full-time students.
Jill Montera a corporate outreach manager at Daniels says, “We want it to be a very successful program.”
